Note: the market's overinflation of Linux-related companies stock value corrected itself. When he was at Yahoo!, Paul Graham computed that Yahoo!'s stock price was about 200% too high. The dot-com bust corrected most of the imbalance by eliminating the crufty companies and re-establishing reasonable stock prices for the survivors. VA/Linux found itself in direct competition with Dell and IBM in the Linux hardware space and jettisoned that part of the company, renamed itself and is still going great guns. Larry Augustin is Chairman of the Board there and still working on OSS projects.
